Cocoon Lace Scarf or Wrap

Puffy cocoons are outlined by waving knit stitches.  On the opposite side, purl sts outline the cocoons for a different, but equally attractive look for a reversable fabric.  Ends may be finished with the simple scalloped lace edging or choose the plain garter stitch borders.

This lovely lace scarf is named after its main pattern stitch "Crest of the Wave" - a derivative of the popular Shetland lace stitch Feather and Fan or Old Shale.  The main stitch area of graceful lacy waves is surrounded by a knit-as-you-go elegant ribbed openwork border.
