Size: To Fit a ladies medium size foot. Approximately 8.5 inches around ankle.

Pattern requires 1-3 ounce skein of Twinkle Toes sock yarn from Joslyn's Fiber Farm.

Gauge: 8 stitches per inch in pattern. Please take the time to check your gauge using our yarn!

Directions: Cast on 72 stitches. Divide stitches evenly on 3 needles. Place marker to indicate beginning of round. Join, being careful not to twist stitches. Begin rib pattern of knit 2, purl 2.

Continue pattern for 6 inches or desired length. End at marker.

Begin Partridge Stitch Heel Flap:

Divide stitches for heel flap: Knit across 36 stitches. Place remaining 36 stitches on a separate needle or stitch holder. Turn work and purl back across 36 stitches. Now begin partridge stitch heel flap as follows:

Row 1: SL1, *K1, SL 1; rep from * across, end K1.

Row 2 & 4: SL 1, purl across.

Row 3: Sl 1, * SL 1, K1, rep from *, end K2.

Turning the Heel(Half- Handkerchief):

Row 2: SL 1, P1, P2 tog, P1, turn work.

Row 3: SL 1, K2, SSK, K1, turn work.

Row 4: Slip 1, purl to next to last stitch before gap, P2tog, P1, and turn work.

Row 5: Slip 1, knit to next to last stitch before gap created by decrease, SSK, K1, turn work.

Continue in this manner until all stitches have been worked, ending with a purl row. You should have 18 sts remaining.

Gusset:

With needle 1, knit across heel stitches and pick up 18 stitches through each slip stitch loop on edge of heel flap.

With 2nd needle, work across 36 set aside stitches (instep) in pattern.

With 3rd needle, pick up 18 stitches through each slip stitch loop on other side of heel flap. Knit ½ of stitches of the heel flap onto 3rd needle. The middle of the heel is now the beginning of the round.

Your 3 needles should have stitches arranged as follows:

Needle 1: 36 stitches.

Needle 2: 30 stitches

Needle 3: 36 stitches.

Knit 1 round even.

Round 1: Knit to 3 sts from end of needle 1, K2tog, K1.

Needle 2: Knit across in pattern.

Needle 3: K1, SSK, K to end of needle.

Round 2: Knit across needle 1, K across needle 2 in pattern,

K across needle 3.

Repeat these 2 rounds until needles 1 and 3 contain 18 stitches each. Total stitch count will be back to 72 stitches.

Knit around sock continuing pattern on top until sock measures 2 inches less than desired length.

Toe:

Round 1: Needle 1: Knit to 3 sts from end, K2tog, K1.

Needle 2, k1, SSK, knit to 3 sts from end, K2tog,

K1.

Needle 3: K1, SSK, knit to end.

Round 2: Knit.

Repeat these 2 rounds until 28 stitches remain. Place stitches on 2 needles and kitchener stitch the toe closed.

Need I say: Repeat for 2nd sock. I myself never make a 2nd sock. I have to move on to something else. To each his own!

Happy Knitting!

Joslyn.
